Round II

Today David went for his 3 month checkup after the ablation. Dr. Sparky says he has gone from A-fib to A-flutter. That is progress. The heart beat is regular now instead of up/down/all over the place. However, his heart is also out of sync., i.e. his heart is beating too fast, which in turn results in low blood pressure. It also means the medication they gave him Oct 27th to keep his heart in sync is not strong enough--so, Monday he goes into the hospital. They will do a cardio version (the paddles to put his heart back in sync) and start him on a new, stronger medication to keep him in sync.

He seems to be quite sensitive to any drug. One they gave him slowed his heart so much they called and told him to not take anymore of that med and gave him 2 hours to get to the hospital because his heart was going too slow. He recovered nicely after no more of that medication.  Back in Oct. 27/10, they did an EKG and saw that his heart was out of sync and scheduled him for cardio version the next day.  The next day, his heart had gone back into sync on its own.

Being in the hospital they can monitor his reactions to the meds. In fact, he will probably have monitors all over. They will know down at the nurses' desk when he goes potty! Still, I would rather he be there until Thursday so if anything happens it is on their watch and they know what to do about it! I don't--for sure!

Doc Sparky is putting him on the stronger med hoping to keep him in sync until he can squeeze him in for a second ablation. About 20-30 percent of the time a second ablation is needed to get into the 85% of those who are so healed through an ablation that neither medication nor a pace maker is needed.  We ask for prayer that David be in that 85% bracket. The second ablation will happen in 6 weeks, approx. They will give a date for that as soon as they can. The nurse who runs that date book was not in today so they could not schedule it--probably tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow--I have a book signing for Sassy Pants tomorrow at a children's bookstore. What a cool place! Fox channel 17 local channel had an interview with me yesterday. We got a copy of it on David's computer and soon we will have some time and put it up on YouTube and attach a link to the blog so you all can see. I didn't get to cover some things, but oh, well! I did get to say some other things about it and it puts both my name and Sassy Pants picture out there! I left a dozen books for her to sell. The idea being she sells them and then the kids come back for me to sign their book. I'll read a chapter and let them color some pictures and ask questions.

We will keep you posted on all the fast breaking news--i.e. David's itinerary to and from hospital and the medication blues!

Blessings, Carol

Forgot to mention in my email that I'm looking forward to watching the video when it's ready.

Prescription drugs are such a balancing act. Our body resists them, and then adjusts to them, and the balancing goes on and on.
Praying for God's healing... and patience in the process.

Enjoy the book signing.

Thanks for update.
